Importing a spreadsheet

Map the columns, preview every row, then approve.

What it is

A three-step import: suggest a mapping, preview what will happen, apply it.

Why use it

To bring an existing customer list in without typing it.

Steps

  1. Prepare a CSV with a header row.
  2. The column mapping is suggested — check it, since a wrong guess writes the wrong thing across every row.
  3. Read the preview: how many will be created, updated and skipped, and why.
  4. Apply.

What happens next

Imported contacts carry no consent record. A list from a spreadsheet is not permission to contact the people on it, and the system will not pretend otherwise. Make sure you have a lawful basis before you start sending.

Common problems

Duplicate rows in my file.
Caught during preview. The first row wins; later ones are skipped rather than silently overwriting.
A column was not mapped.
Unrecognised columns are left alone rather than guessed at. Map it by hand if you need it.
